5 Must See Gigs Before the New Year

2014 has been an amazing year in music. The summer’s festivals were magnificent and Britain has once again attracted the latest talent from abroad, as well as enjoyed the best of British music in countless gigs and concerts. Luckily, the year is not yet over and there is plenty of fantastic musical talent to experience. If you want to see one last gig before the new year, then here are the five must see events.

Kasabian, December 1-6, O2 Brixton Academy, London

This Glastonbury-headlining rock band is definitely worth checking out. Kasabian has been instrumental in bringing back the good, old-fashioned Brit pop with its psych-rock flavourings and electronic additions, and you don’t want to miss out seeing the band perform live.

You’ll be able to enjoy them at the O2 Brixton Academy, where the band performs for five nights. There are still some tickets left and you can purchase them online. And if you are not able to make it to the capital city, then the tour stops in four other locations (Belfast, Newcastle upon Tyne, Manchester, Sheffield) before the Christmas break.

Lenny Kravitz, December 6, Wembley Arena, London

Another guaranteed night of rock ‘n’ roll will take place at the famous Wembley Arena on December 6th. Lenny Kravitz is touring once again, celebrating his illustrious career in music.

You’ll be able to enjoy old classics as well as the newer hits. His performance is always electric and the guitar sounds will be ringing in your ears for days after the performance! He’s a popular rock star and you need to be quick to find a ticket.

John Coltrane’s ‘A Love Supreme’, December 9, Union Chapel, London

For a night filled with smooth jazz tunes, you need to head down to Union Chapel. The venue will host a commemorative evening celebrating the legendary saxophonist, John Coltrane.

You’ll bee able to hear classic tunes performed by top class artists such as Steve Williamson and Cleveland Watkiss. The artists will recreate the ‘A Love Supreme’ album, which was recorded 50 years ago. The night will be filled with amazing saxophone sounds and quirky xylosynths.

Basement Jaxx, December 11, O2 Arena, London

If you are looking to relive the 90s, then you definitely need to check out Basement Jaxx at the O2 arena in London. This iconic electro-pop group is performing all of their greatest hits from the 90s and noughties, providing you with a fun-filled night out.

The band is also performing in Plymouth on December 9, if you are unable to get to London on the 11th. You can still find tickets to the event online, but you better act quick to guarantee you know where your head’s at in December!

Madness, December 20, O2 Arena, London

Madness will perform at London’s O2 Arena right before Christmas. If you want a funky start to your holiday, then that’s where you should be. This London group has been rocking for a long time now, but their gig is as energetic and electric as it used to be back in the day.

You’ll be able to enjoy amazing hits and the whole arena is guaranteed to be up on their feet by the end of the night. Madness combines smooth saxophone sounds with quirky electric pop tunes to create something fun and easy on the ears.
