  • Funk Rock Series 1- Lesson 1 Jerry kicks off into this series with that great meaty Funk Rock tone. This is a perfect place for beginners to begin as in this lesson Jerry keeps things simple by talking mainly about Hammer On's and Pull Off's and how they can join some of the licks in the solo demo nicely. You'll get to grips with the G Minor Pentatonic scale and learn techniques to move between these Pentatonic Boxes smoothly and correctly. As with all of the lessons, Jerry goes into detail as to how to play some of the licks to begin building your skills to progress through the lessons.
  • Funk Rock Series 1- Lesson 2 Jerry is back for lesson two with that meaty Funk Rock sound. Here you'll learn some more complex ideas to progress you a little further into the series. This is building upon what you've learned in the previous lesson but with a more ambitions approach with some additional phrasing to expand upon your skill. This is a great little solo to continue your introduction into Funk Rock, with a lovely contrast of sound up and down the neck. This is slightly more ambitious, more striking, but totally worth it.
  • Funk Rock Series 1- Lesson 3 Here, Jerry is beginning to combine what you've learned in the first two lessons by using this lesson to demonstrate a really great Funky solo. He'll show you in detail how to play the licks, adding in additional information to develop your skills further. You'll get to grips with playing in octaves and with vibrato to give your playing an effective thicker sound. Jerry gives a lot of detail as to how to develop these techniques into something more controlled, explains how to fret these notes correctly and how to use a little muting to make sure you're not playing any surplus notes.
  • Funk Rock Series 1- Lesson 4 This lesson raises the bar even further and introduces a variety of new techniques to give you more confidence in your playing. Jerry does this by demonstrating a few different rhythms using Syncopation, which breaks up the predictable elements of the Pentatonic, making your playing more dynamic. He'll also demonstrate another useful technique; 'Raking' which is an approach, similar to muting, only more effective in this style. You'll learn String Picking, which will help you move around the neck more confidently, and begin to really harness this Funky Rock style. As ever Jerry will go into great detail with all of this and will teach you how to execute what you'll learn effectively and like a pro.
  • Funk Rock Series 1- Lesson 5 Jerry is back for this quality Funk Rock lesson with a host of new techniques and a new solo for you to get to grips with. The bar is raised further and more diverse techniques are added to develop what you've learned over the previous five lessons. The pace is quickened here, so bring some muscle. you'll be getting to grips with some Tapping, Double Stop and Position Shift techniques which come together with the solo to provide a full, rich crunchy Funk Rock sound. This is mainly played in the key of G, with a Minor Pentatonic tapping lick, which will certainly give you a challenge in preparation for lesson 6.
